Nicola Whayman
I am a textile artist living in the beautiful Suffolk countryside, where my daily dog walks spark my creativity and fuels my passion for art. I love spending time in my garden, where the beauty of nature inspires me every day. Bringing elements of the garden into my home and artwork allows me to celebrate the incredible wonders that can be found in the natural world.
My Story
In my journey as an artist, I strive to harmonise my work with the beauty of nature, utilising local resources and sustainable materials. I continue to challenge my practice and the products used to find the balance between caring for and expressing my response to the environment. Each piece I create is a reflection of my research and sensory experiences, capturing the essence of my surroundings. By incorporating hand stitching, drawing, and repurposing fibres, I allow myself the time to reflect and connect deeply with my environment. Ultimately, my practice not only nurtures my creativity but also supports my mental well-being through the act of creating and engaging with nature.
